OmniShaver sent me there a full kit to use and review a few months ago, so here is my review of the shave butter. The Butter is made to use on your head as a shave cream and moisturizer and I suppose you could use it on arms and legs if your into that type of thing. But let’s get into the review, shall we?
This shaving butter comes in a white 6 oz plastic bottle with a standard Pump head that can be locked and unlocked with a twist of the head. the label is a sticker that has stuck well with no issues with pealing.
The butter has a fairly strong tea tree scent to it that I don’t mind however I don’t love it either. I would like to smell a little mint or spearmint added to help even out the tea tree scent.
There is definitely a lot of things I can’t pronounce in this list however most of it is fairly standard to what you would see in something like shave creams and moisturizers. Unfortunately, most of them don’t have simple terms that you would know what it was without the definition so I’m not going to put the easy to understand terms as I sometimes do. However here they are if you wish to look them up.
DI Water, Shea Butter, Glycerin, Behentrimonium Methosulfate, Capric/Caprylic Triglyceride, Isopropyl Palmitate, Polyquaternium 7, Phenoxyethanol(and)Ethylhexyl Glycerin, Stearyl Alcohol, Cetyl Alcohol, Sodium Benzonate, Lavender Oil, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Rosemary Oil, Jojoba Oil, Tea Tree Oil, Peppermint Oil, Cedar Oil, Aloe Vera Gel, Panthenol
According to OmniShaves site, they only used ingredients that would not promote Oxidation on razor blades that then would cause rust. I have seen no rust on my shavers when using this.
I have to say my first impressions of this product were not that great. As you can see in the picture to the left, I received it in a dirty container that looked like it was used and refilled. I’m sure this is not the case however, I’m sure there was a rush job cleaning them up in the warehouse after one spilled or something. This was not a big deal just a little off-putting. I found that it is easy to dispense from the pump, well at least when wasn’t locked lol. It tended to accidentally lock more often than id like it to. I’m also not sure about how great it would be for traveling with it if you needed to as its not the push and twist to lock type. To lock and unlock it you simply just spin the nozzle piece and it will lock or unlock. Because of this, I think you could accidentally unlock it if it’s in your bag.
I used this product for a few months with the OmniShaver as well as my other head shaving blade and they both worked well with this shave butter. It gives nice lubrication to your blade as well as sticks to the hair and skin fairly well. I did find out that with longer hair however it does not do a great job with lifting the hairs for that close shave with one pass. This really should not be a big deal as long as you shave your head as often as you should. I like the fact that this is basically a moisturizer with a bit of slickness for shaving. One big perk of this is one that I didn’t get to take advantage of much as I shave in the shower and that is all you need to do is wipe off the access after shaving and your good to go with no rinsing needed. This means the time it takes to shave gets cut down a minute or two.
Overall I don’t think its anything super special or out of the ordinary. It does what its made to do and it does it fairly well. Now that might sound bad but I LIKE IT! some times effective products are all that is needed to be good.
Omnishaver sells this on their site as well as Amazon. I have linked up to Amazon for ease of ordering even though it’s about $5 more as after shipping from there site you would probably be paying that or more anyway. I have also included a link to the complete kit that I was sent in case your interested.
